In Focus: Biatec

Biatec’s heritage is a crucial part of their identity. Their name recalls a King who appeared on old Celtic coins minted in what is now Bratislava in the first century BC, and it also refers to the coin itself. Proud Slovaks, their logo pays tribute to this illustrious history and also hints at their national emblem.

The design of the watches themselves is inspired by this rich culture, and translates into clean elegance. The Majestic collection is the perfect example – a classic 40mm diameter and stainless steel case is a subtle backdrop for a plethora of sunray dials in tasteful hues: black, dark brown, grey or blue are all there, complemented by silver or golden indexes and hands.

Luxury editions, such as model 02 which comes with rose gold PVD coating, will appeal to those looking for something a bit special. It’s the details that Biatec excels at, and the calf leather straps in croco pattern, available in black or brown, are flawlessly finished with charcoal or brown stitching. Dials are clean, featuring only a seconds sundial display at 9 o’clock, which lets the quality of the craftsmanship speak for itself.

Fortunately, the movement at the heart of the watch is pretty impressive, too. All watches have a 29 jewels Swiss made mechanical automatic Eterna 3901A movement, with automatic winding and rhodium-plated finish, and are perfectly finished so they not only do the job well, but look good doing it.

Turn your Biatec piece over to reveal a solid gold coin placed under the sapphire crystal

Make sure to flip the watch over to admire the caseback, which has been decorated with a solid 14ct gold coin placed under the sapphire crystal. The coin is supplied by one of the oldest mints in Europe, and you can choose whether yours comes in silver or yellow gold; biatecwatches.com
