John Pye Auctions are one of the largest auction houses in the UK, steadily expanding into the realm of luxury watch sales. As part of their Luxury Department Auction taking place from July 4th – July 18th, a collection of rare and exclusive watches will be passing under the hammer. From highly sought after modern Rolexes to custom high jewellery Pateks and a sporty, world travelling Vacheron Constantin. Let’s dive into John Pye Auctions’ luxury watch sale for July.
Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual Time 47450
The Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual Time was originally launched in 2006 and is arguably one of the collection’s most quintessential complications. Structurally it has a 42mm, steel case with the signature integrated bracelet and Maltese Cross bezel. However, what makes it special is the dial, which features central hours, minutes and seconds, a power reserve indicator, a 12-hour subdial, a day/night indicator and a date subdial in a quirky asymmetric display.
The 12-hour subdial, in conjunction with the day/night indicator, allows you to keep track of a second time zone in addition to local time. As such, it’s the perfect complication for a world traveller who needs to keep track of both local time and home time. Alternatively, as proved by the Rolex Explorer, it’s a useful complication for spelunking (exploring caves) where the day/night indicator lets you maintain a proper sleep cycle.
Rolex Daytona Ref. 126515LN
Released only last year, the Rolex Daytona Ref. 126515LN is part of the newest generation of Rolex’s famous chronograph. Considering the extensive waiting lists for new Rolexes, this represents a great opportunity to procure a cool Everose gold edition with black dial and silver subdials.
Powering the Daytona is the calibre 4131, an automatic movement with superlative chronometer certification and a 72-hour power reserve rating. It’s a reminder that Rolex are at the top of the watch game for more than their brand recognition, they are also a power house of high quality mechanics.
Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711/1R-001 Custom Jewellery
This rendition of the Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711/1R-001 is a high jewellery edition dressed in aftermarket diamonds. Making it a unique piece in the realm of Nautili. The rose gold case, bezel, dial and bracelet are all adorned with tiny diamonds, creating a carpet of jewels across the entire piece.
The 5711 was discontinued in 2021 making every instance of the watch more exclusive. This edition houses the Patek calibre 324 with a 45-hour power reserve. It’s equipped with central hour, minutes and seconds as well as a date window at 3 o’clock.
In addition to these timepieces, the John Pye Auctions sale also features a Patek Philippe Nautilus 5980/1A Chronograph, Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider 2019 Ltd Edition Leicester City FC, Rolex Sky Dweller 326938, Rolex Day-Date II 228235, Rolex Day-Date 36 118235, Rolex Day-Date II 218235 and Rolex GMT-Master II 116710LN.
