A few weeks ago the full line-up for the incredible Only Watch auction was announced, an amazing display of unique watches crafted by some of the world’s best-known watchmakers. However, there are lots of brands who want to help out with charity who aren’t featured in Only Watch and so they, along with the Scottish Watches Podcast and Lyon & Turnbull auctioneers, have come together to create their own charity watch auction, fittingly called the EveryWatch charity auction. The auction is taking place online at the Lyon & Turnbull website with bidding opening on August 16th and closing on the 24th.
Just like Only Watch, the watches being sold are unique pieces created especially for the occasion and are all based on a united theme, which is the colour blue (for the Scottish connection). Proceeds from the sales will go to Maggie’s Centres, a cancer care support network across the UK and expanding internationally. There are nine brands taking part in the auction and they are: anOrdain, Bamford, Christopher Ward, Fears, Isotope, Paulin, Sartory Billard, Studio Underd0g and William Wood.
anOrdain Prototype Model 1
The story for the anOrdain Prototype Model 1 for EveryWatch started back in 2022 when anOrdain began developing a custom watch for a client in the form of an incredibly tricky enamel linen dial. However, as misfortune would have it, the client didn’t like the purple-blue tone and so the dial was rejected, despite all the effort and the fact that it is gorgeous with vertical striations and horizontal waves. Fortunately, it has now found a home in this one-off piece for charity.
Christopher Ward C63 Highlander EveryWatch 01/01
As Scottish Watches have provided a large part of the impetus behind getting the auction off the ground and coordinating between the brands and auctioneer, Christopher Ward have paid tribute to Scotland with their entry. It’s a unique version of the C63 Highlander, which itself was a watch built in collaboration with Scottish Watches a few years back. It’s a variant of the Sealander in the colours of the Scottish flag and bearing the EveryWatch inscription. It’s a unique piece so… there can be only one.
Studio Underd0g 1/1 Blueberry Chronograph
Studio Underd0g have well and truly leaned into their reputation as the fruity watch brand. At this point they’ve tackled watermelon, strawberries, pumpkin and even mint chocolate chip ice cream, although that last one isn’t technically fruit. The Blueberry Chronograph on the other hand is most definitely fruit. It features a gradient blue dial, blue dot hour markers and a tri-colour blue chronograph subdial. Similar to the pumpkin model, which was a two-piece collection, the biggest frustration is that it will never be a production piece all of us can own. On the plus side, it’s sure to raise some good money for charity.
Fears Brunswick Ice 1 of 1
The Fears Brunswick Ice is a watch that makes me incredibly sad that it’s a 1 of 1 production because the ice blue dial with sunray burst is stunning. In addition to the unique dial, the piece has been given Fears’ highest level of finishing such as the bevelled and rhodium plated hands that are seen on their full platinum model, bringing a high level of finesse to this steel model for EveryWatch.
Isotope Hydrium Alba
Similar to Christopher Ward, Isotope have created a unique version of a watch that was originally created in partnership with Scottish Watches, the Hydrium Alba. This version features the same white dial and blue accents but it’s a lighter, more glacial shade of blue. Specs-wise it has a 41mm stainless steel case with micro-blasted finishing and houses the Landeron Calbre 24 with 40-hour power reserve.
Paulin Prototype 1-1000
Paulin are a brand that I’ll admit to not being the most familiar with, despite our print editor wearing his pretty much daily. Founded by a trio of Scottish sisters with a goal of creating high quality, design led watches, the brand has since expanded into other areas such as clocks, leather and lamps.
Back in 2020 they began a close relationship with anOrdain and are now considered their sister company. For EveryWatch they have included the Prototype 1-1000, an experimental paint dial sample of a watch they plan to release soon, although they opted for a different design for the production model making the dial here unique.
Sartory Billard SB04
Next up we have the only watch in the EveryWatch charity auction not created by a UK brand, the French Sartory Billard SB04. It’s a really fun watch and drives home the charity aspect of the auction by having a vibrant blue dial etched with a repeating pattern created from the Maggie’s Centres logo. It makes for a funky design with the asymmetry being emphasised. The watch itself is stainless steel, the dial is titanium and it houses the La Joux-Perret G100 automatic calibre.
William Wood Valiant Model 1 of 1
William Wood Valiant Model 1 of 1 is the black horse of the auction – or should that be orange horse? It wouldn’t be a true charity auction if someone didn’t miss the memo about the theme and so, instead of blue they went with a blazing orange watch. It features all the signature firefighting elements William Wood are known for, such the fire bell chime seconds hand with axe-head counterweight, the retro fire engine design around the periphery and the recycled hose strap. Flipping it over reveals the EveryWatch logo on the exhibition caseback.
Bamford Prototype B80
Last up we have Bamford, who are well known for their customisable watches and so their flagship B80 was a natural fit for creating a unique version for the auction. It features a black dial, blue hour track, yellow minute track and a yellow seconds hand. It’s powered by the Sellita SW 300-1 automatic with 56-hour power reserve. The case is also made from titanium giving it superb scratch resistance and lightweight properties.
